Gameweek 16 may have only finished on Wednesday night, but less than 48 hours later, Everton and West Ham will kick off Gameweek 17.

The upcoming transfer deadline is 16:00 (GMT) on New Year’s Day, so make sure you have your team finalised before Friday’s 17:30 kick-off.

• Everton vs. West Ham

• Manchester United vs. Aston Villa

• Tottenham vs. Leeds

• Crystal Palace vs. Sheffield United

• Brighton vs. Wolves

• West Brom vs. Arsenal

• Burnley vs. Fulham

• Newcastle vs. Leicester

• Chelsea vs. Manchester City

• Southampton vs. Liverpool

Four teams – Man City, Everton, Fulham and Spurs – missed out on Gameweek 16, with a series of positive coronavirus cases seeing their games postponed.

With that in mind, I might be a good idea to steer clear of players from those teams, as they could have a number of players missing for the upcoming round of fixtures.

Goalkeepers

With low-scoring Sheffield United facing the Eagles this weekend, in-form shot-stopper Vicente Guaita (Crystal Palace) could be in line for a clean sheet.

Burnley remain the second-lowest scorers in the league, so Alphonse Areola (Fulham) stands a decent chance of achieving his third shutout in four games.

Bernd Leno (Arsenal) kept a clean sheet in the previous round. With struggling West Brom hosting the Gunners on Saturday, the German is definitely worth considering.

Defenders

Stuart Dallas and Ezgjan Alioski (Leeds) both score big in the previous round. Marcelo Bielsa’s side face off-form Tottenham this week, making Leeds defenders sensible picks.

Ben Mee and James Tarkowski (Burnley) come up against a weak Fulham forward line on Sunday. Mee netted last time out, while the Clarets kept a clean sheet.

If you’re looking for a “Big Six” pick, Rob Holding (Arsenal), Harry Maguire (Manchester United) and Ben Chilwell (Chelsea) are all in good form.

Midfielders

There were countless scoring midfielders in Gameweek 16. Harvey Barnes (Leicester), Jack Harrison (Leeds), Anwar El Ghazi (Aston Villa) and Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace) are all worth a shot.

Marcus Rashford (Manchester United) – who netted the Red Devils’ winning goal against Wolves on Tuesday – now has seven goals and seven assists in the Premier League this term.

Leeds have the worst defensive record in the division, so Son Heung-min (Tottenham) will fancy his chances of adding to his tally this weekend.

Forwards

Following eight league appearances without a goal, Alexandre Lacazette (Arsenal) has now scored in back-to-back games – bagging the winner against Brighton in midweek.

Crystal Palace have the second-worst defensive record in the Premier League, so David McGoldrick (Sheffield United) – who has two goals and an assist in his last four outings – could profit this weekend.

Olivier Giroud (Chelsea) and Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa) were both among the highest scoring forwards the previous round.
