5971
Right, it’s time to find out who’s hot and who’s not as we head into Gameweek 12 of the 2020/21 FPL season.
Following last weekend’s suspension of Newcastle vs. Aston Villa, all 20 Premier League teams return to action this weekend.
Let’s start by taking a look at the upcoming fixtures.
• Leeds United vs. West Ham
• Wolves vs. Aston Villa
• Newcastle vs. West Brom
• Manchester United vs. Manchester City
• Everton vs. Chelsea
• Southampton vs. Sheffield United
• Crystal Palace vs. Tottenham
• Fulham vs. Liverpool
• Leicester City vs. Brighton
• Arsenal vs. Burnley
Of course, the Manchester derby stands out here. But there are fascinating games wherever you look across England’s top flight this weekend.
Fourth-bottom Fulham host joint-top Liverpool, while frontrunners Tottenham make the short trip to face Crystal Palace.
Remember, the transfer deadline for Gameweek 12 is 18:30 on Friday, December 11.
Goalkeepers
Liverpool will be confident of keeping a clean sheet against low-scoring Fulham on Sunday. If Alisson is still injured, Caoimhim Kelleher could be an excellent budget option.
Karl Darlow is another shot-stopper in fine form. Newcastle host struggling West Brom this weekend, before facing Fulham just before Christmas.
Along with Kelleher, Ederson (Manchester City) and Hugo Lloris (Tottenham) were the only other ‘keepers to achieve shut-outs in the previous round.
Defenders
It makes sense to have a Liverpool full-back in your team at the moment. With three assists to his name this season, Andrew Robertson is a sensible selection, as Trent Alexander-Arnold recovers to full fitness.
Jamal Lewis (Newcastle) is a solid cheaper option. The Northern Ireland international will be hopeful of adding to his tally of two clean sheets this term, while he is also a threat going forward.
After scoring last time out, centre-backs Jannik Vestergaard (Southampton) and Kurt Zouma (Chelsea) were among the top-scoring defenders in the previous round.
Midfielders
While we’re on the topic of the previous round, it is difficult to ignore Wilfried Zaha. The Ivorian bagged a brace as Palace smashed West Brom 5-1 last weekend, taking his tally to seven goals and two assists.
Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) scored and assisted against Fulham last weekend, as did Son Heung-min (Tottenham).
If you’re looking for a decent budget option, look no further than James Ward-Prowse (Southampton). The set-piece king picked up another assist last time out, with four goals and three assists this term.
Forwards
Many of the Golden Boot frontrunners – Harry Kane (Tottenham), Jamie Vardy (Leicester) and Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton) – maintained their goalscoring record last weekend.
West Brom have the poorest defensive record in the division, so Newcastle strikers Callum Wilson and Joelinton will fancy their chances of scoring on Saturday.
Leeds have also been conceding a lot of goals this season, making fit-again West Ham striker Michail Antonio a very attractive option for Gameweek 12 – and beyond.
