1350
Gameweek 17 may have only finished on Wednesday, but the Premier League action resumes on Friday. Accordingly, it’s time to discuss the best players for FPL Gameweek 18.
Arsenal, Man City, Newcastle, Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea all returned from the World Cup break with big wins. As a result, many of the game’s high-profile assets scored big in the previous round.
Before we go over the best FPL players for Gameweek 18, let’s take a look at the upcoming fixtures.
• West Ham vs. Brentford
• Liverpool vs. Leicester
• Wolves vs. Man Utd
• Man City vs. Everton
• Fulham vs. Southampton
• Bournemouth vs. Crystal Palace
• Newcastle vs. Leeds
• Brighton vs. Arsenal
• Tottenham vs. Aston Villa
• Nottm Forest vs. Chelsea
Liverpool, Man City and Newcastle all have favourable home fixtures, while Man Utd and Chelsea are expected to enjoy success on the road. Table-topping Arsenal visit Brighton, while Tottenham host Aston Villa.
It is worth noting that Chelsea and Fulham double up in GW19, before Man City and Spurs play twice in GW20. Keep that in mind when it comes to making your transfers.
Goalkeepers
Man City’s clean sheet odds stand at a whopping 62% for their game against Everton, making Ederson (Man City) an excellent goalkeeper pick for GW18. Alisson (Liverpool) and Kepa (Chelsea) are also favored to achieve shutouts.
Robert Sanchez (Brighton) secured a nine-pointer against Southampton last time out, while David De Gea (Man Utd) claimed seven points. That said, they face trickier tests this weekend.
Defenders
Believe it or not, Tim Ream (Fulham) was the highest-scoring defender in the previous round – scooping 14 points. With struggling Southampton up next, a Fulham defender could prove to be a shrewd pick for GW18.
Reece James (Chelsea) picked up another injury last time out, meaning many FPL managers will be looking for a replacement. Marc Cucurella (Chelsea), Andrew Robertson (Liverpool) and John Stones (Man City) are all a similar price.
Midfielders
Marcus Rashford (Man Utd), Solly March (Brighton), Joelinton (Newcastle), Mohamed Salah (Liverpool), Martin Odegaard (Arsenal), Mason Mount (Chelsea) and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (Tottenham) all hit double figures in GW17.
Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal) and Miguel Almiron (Newcastle) picked up where they left off before the World Cup. Although they are highly-owned, they are bound to accumulate plenty of points.
Forwards
There were doubts over the fitness of Aleksandar Mitrovic (Fulham) ahead of GW17. However, the Serbian striker racked up one goal, two assists and three bonus points against Crystal Palace.
As expected, Erling Haaland (Man City) notched two goals and three bonus points against Leeds. Kai Havertz (Chelsea), Harry Kane (Tottenham), Eddie Nketiah (Arsenal) and Anthony Martial (Man Utd) are also worth considering for GW18.
