2647

The final Fantasy Premier League Gameweek before the World Cup is here. This weekend, FPL managers across the globe will be hoping to finish the first phase of the season in a high note.

Gameweek 16 dishes up some eye-catching clashes, with Man City hosting Brentford in Saturday’s early-kick off. Elsewhere, in-form Newcastle welcome Chelsea to St. James’ Park, while Arsenal visit Wolves.

Before we examine the best players for FPL Gameweek 16, let’s check out the fixtures.

• Man City vs. Brentford

• Liverpool vs. Southampton

• Bournemouth vs. Everton

• West Ham vs. Leicester

• Tottenham vs. Leeds

• Nottm Forest vs. Crystal Palace

• Newcastle vs. Chelsea

• Wolves vs. Arsenal

• Brighton vs. Aston Villa

• Fulham vs. Man Utd

The GW16 deadline is set for 11:00 (GMT) on Saturday, meaning we don’t have long to lock in our teams. Without further ado, here are the best FPL players for GW16.

Goalkeepers

Man City, Liverpool, and Arsenal have the best clean sheet odds for GW16, meaning Ederson (Man City), Alisson (Liverpool) and Aaron Ramsdale (Arsenal) are most likely to achieve a shutout this weekend.

Nick Pope (Newcastle) is the highest-scoring goalkeeper in the game, having kept three clean sheets across the last five rounds. With the Magpies flying high, Pope will be confident of keeping Chelsea quiet on Saturday.

Defenders

Joao Cancelo (Man City) served his red card suspension in midweek, making him available for GW16. Interestingly, Kieran Trippier (Newcastle) is the only defender with more FPL points than Cancelo this season.

Gabriel (Arsenal) was the only defender to outscore Trippier in GW15, while Lucas Digne (Aston Villa) also achieved double figures. Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool) is another great option for GW16.

Midfielders

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) appears to be rediscovering his best form, having scored three goals across the previous two rounds. Marcus Tavernier (Bournemouth) was the only midfielder to outscore Salah in GW15.

Jacob Ramsey (Aston Villa) also impressed last weekend, racking up one goal, two assists and three bonus points. Elsewhere, Kevin De Bruyne (Man City) and Phil Foden (Man City) could have a field day against Southampton.

Forwards

After coming off the bench to score the winner last weekend, Erling Haaland (Man City) is expected to start in GW16. If he doesn’t, Julian Alvarez (Man City) is likely to maintain his eye-catching form.

Harry Kane (Tottenham) will be confident of exploiting Leeds’ leaky defence, while Gabriel Jesus (Arsenal) will fancy his chances of adding to his impressive tally when the Gunners visit Wolves.
