2022/23 Fantasy Premier League – Which Teams Have the Best Opening Fixtures?

Of course, picking the right players is the biggest factor in Fantasy Premier League. But targeting teams with favourable fixtures is also hugely important.

If you want to get a head start on the competition, you need to assess the fixture list. Don’t worry, we have already done the hard work for you.

Here are the top five teams with the best opening fixtures for the 2022/23 season. For the purpose of FPL, we have decided to look at the first six games.

1. Liverpool

• Fulham (a), Crystal Palace (h), Manchester United (a), Bournemouth (h), Newcastle United (h), Everton (a).

Liverpool kick off their campaign with a trip to newly-promoted Fulham before hosting Crystal Palace. They face another of the newcomers in Bournemouth in Gameweek 4 before contesting the Merseyside Derby in Gameweek 6.

Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.5m) are bound to pick up plenty of FPL points in the opening weeks, as well as Andrew Robertson (£7.0m) and Alisson (£5.5m).

2. Manchester City

• West Ham United (a), Bournemouth (h), Newcastle United (a), Crystal Palace (h), Nottingham Forest (h), Aston Villa (a).

Like Liverpool, Manchester City face two newly-promoted teams across the first six rounds, hosting Bournemouth in Gameweek 2 and Nottingham Forest in Gameweek 5.

New boy Erling Haaland (£11.5m) is already owned by almost 60% of FPL managers ahead of the new season. Joao Cancelo (£7.0m), Kevin De Bruyne (£12.0m) and Ederson (£5.5m) are also very popular picks.

3. Wolverhampton Wanderers

• Leeds United (a), Fulham (h), Tottenham Hotspur (a), Newcastle United (h), Bournemouth (a), Southampton (h).

Apart from the Gameweek 3 clash against Tottenham, Wolves will be confident of taking points from each of their opening six fixtures. Not only do they face Fulham and Bournemouth, but they also face Leeds in Gameweek 1.

Jose Sa (£5.0m) and Pedro Neto (£5.5) are proving to be the popular Wolves picks at the moment. Many FPL managers will also be looking at Rayan Ait-Nouri (£4.5m) and Jonny (£4.5m) as affordable defensive options.

4. Brentford

• Leicester City (a), Manchester United (h), Fulham (a), Everton (h), Crystal Palace (a), Leeds United (h).

After a potentially tricky start against Leicester and Man Utd, Brentford come up against Fulham in Gameweek 3 before facing three of the bottom nine clubs in the previous campaign.

At this stage, goalkeeper David Raya (£4.5m) looks like the best Brentford option for FPL. Ivan Toney (£7.0m) could prove to be a consistent source of goals, while Bryan Mbeumo (£6.0m) is another interesting option.

5. Arsenal

• Crystal Palace (a), Leicester City (h), Bournemouth (a), Fulham (h), Aston Villa (h), Manchester United (a).

Arsenal come up against just one of last season’s top six – Man Utd – across the opening six games this term. Before that, the Gunners have back-to-back clashes against newly-promoted Bournemouth and Fulham.

There are plenty of eye-catching FPL options at Arsenal, including Gabriel Jesus (£8.0m), Bukayo Saka (£8.0m) and Gabriel Martinelli (£6.0m). Who will make it into your FPL team for Gameweek 1?
