The Bundesliga returns this weekend for round No. 16. Bayern Munich are top of the table and are separated by four points from second-placed Bayer Leverkusen.

As it stands, it is a two-horse race for the Bundesliga title.

Freiburg - Holstein Kiel

Freiburg and Holstein Kiel have not faced off in the Bundesliga previously. This will be their first-ever meeting in the German top flight. Freiburg are ninth in the league, with 24 points from 15 games. Holstein Kiel are 17th and have just eight points.

Holstein Kiel defeated Augsburg 5-1 before the winter break. However, the win was just Kiel’s second of the Bundesliga season.

Freiburg’s last match before the winter break also saw six goals. However, Freiburg fell 5-1 to Bayer Leverkusen. The defeat ended a three-match winless streak for the team. Freiburg have a -3-goal difference.

Hoffenheim - Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg defeated Hoffenheim earlier this season at home 3-0. The Wolves won four of their last six matches against Hoffenheim in all competitions. Each of the last six games between these clubs had over 2.5 goals.

Hoffenheim are toeing the line of relegation. They are 15th in the standings, with 14 points. The Hoff failed to win their last four games, losing twice and drawing twice.

Wolfsburg are on a two-match losing streak. Both matches, losses to Freiburg and Borussia Dortmund, finished with over 3.5 goals. The Wolves average over 2.0 goals per match.

St.Pauli - Eintracht Frankfurt

St. Pauli and Eintracht Frankfurt have not met since 2019. The match will feature two teams in very different places in the table. St. Pauli are 14th in the standings. Eintracht Frankfurt are third but are currently off the pace for the title.

Frankfurt are on a two-game losing streak. The Eagles’ back-to-back losses led to them falling off the pace for challenging for the title. Frankfurt are the third-highest scorers in the league with 35 goals.

St. Pauli have scored the fewest goals in the Bundesliga (12). The Pirates of the Bundesliga defeated Stuttgart 1-0 just before the winter break. It was their second win in four Bundesliga outings.

Augsburg - Stuttgart

Stuttgart went unbeaten in their last five matches against Augsburg in all competitions. That five-match unbeaten run featured four wins and a draw. The Swabians kept clean sheets in each of the last two meetings between the clubs.

Augsburg are on a two-game losing streak in the Bundesliga. Just one of Augsburgs’ last six matches ended in a win.

Stuttgart fell 1-0 to St. Pauli before the winter break. The Swabians’ loss ended a four-match unbeaten run. Stuttgart are just two points off the top five.
