Home advantage key in big title clash
Manchester City and surprise package Leicester go head-to-head at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday in the one of the biggest Premier League games so far this season.
The game is billed as a title decider, but it is too early in the campaign for it to be definitive. It is however a massive game for both teams. If the City records a home win they draw level on points with the Foxes, while an away win would extend their unlikely lead at the top of the table.
A key to this big clash is the location. Manuel Pellegrini’s side have a very strong record at the Etihad Stadium, recording 16 wins from their last 19 games on home soil. The Citizens have also been prolific in front of goal in those 16 wins, scoring at least twice in all of their wins.
The Etihad has not been a kind away ground from visiting teams to visit, but Manchester City’s away form has not been great of late, so this game should be slighter easier as it is on home soil not at the King Power Stadium.
Leicester are no longer the Cinderella of the Premier League. Claudio Ranieri’s men are now considered genuine Premier League title contenders and they have the away form to prove it.
The Foxes have suffered just one defeat in their last 15 games on their travels in the Premier League. In fact the side from the Midlands have only suffered two defeats all season in the top-flight.
This promises to be a fascinating encounter of David versus Goliath proportions. We all know how that particular story finished. Do not rule out a David victory, but Goliath have home advantage and that just may be enough to seal a crucial victory.
