With barely a few months left of the season, Monaco are leading Ligue One ahead of big-spending PSG. Leonardo Jardim’s team are just three points clear of Unai Emery’s team but have been one of most exciting teams to watch in Europe’s top leagues this season.

Despite the slim lead Jardim’s team hold over their rivals, the men from the principality also have a far superior goal difference to the club from the French capital. In fact, their goal difference is incredibly +61, having scored 87 goals in the French top-flight.

They are the top scorers in any of Europe’s top leagues and wonderful to watch. Jardim has done a fantastic job building such an impressive side without having the same sort of financial resources available to PSG.

The Portuguese boss built a team on a mixture of players from their youth ranks and bargain signings, which has worked really well. One of the key factors for Monaco’s success has been the fact that so many players have contributed to scoring goals this season.

Striker Radamel Falcao has scored 16 times in Ligue One, while youngster Kevin Mbappe has scored 12 goals and Valere Germain has found the net nine times this season in the French top-flight. The likes of Thomas Lemar, Guido Carrillo, Boschillia, Fabinho, Kamil Glik and Bernardo Silva have also heavily contributed to Monaco’s Ligue One goals tally.

The Ligue One side are also through to the last-eight of the Champions League, where they will face German side Dortmund. On current form, it would take a brave man to write-off Monaco and their chances of making the semi-finals of Europe’s elite competition.

All-in-all Monaco have enjoyed an extraordinary campaign. However, it seems they will not get the credit they deserve unless they manage to hold off the challenge of PSG and seal the Ligue One title.
