Two of Serie A’s midtable teams meet on Monday night as Fiorentina host Torino at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
The home side head into this clash in low spirits after successive defeats against AC Milan and Borussia Monchengladbach in Serie A and the Europa League respectively.
The 4-2 defeat against Monchengladbach saw the Viola crash out of the Europa League at the last-32 stage. It was a particularly galling loss as Paulo Sousa’s team had a three-goal aggregate lead at one point in the tie.
The loss against Milan left the team from Florence eighth in Serie A and trailing fifth-place Inter by eight points in the race to secure a Europa League spot for next season. The Viola are 13 games unbeaten on home soil in Serie A, but seven of those games have been drawn.
Recent Serie A games at the Artemio Franchi have been high-scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in the Viola’s last six home games in the top-flight.
The visitors are one place behind Monday night’s opponents in the table but trail the Viola by five points. The men from Turin have enjoyed a steady if unspectacular campaign in the Italian top-flight this season.
Sinisa Mihajlovic’s side have not been in the best of form of late in Serie A, winning just one of their last seven league games. Their form away from Turin in the Serie A has been poor of late, as they have failed to win any of their last six games on the road, losing four times in the process.
Torino’s recent away games in Serie A have been low-scoring, as five of their last seven away games have produced under 2.5 goals.
Neither of these two teams have been in particularly great form of late. Forebet predicts the game will finish all-square, with both teams frustrated in their efforts to move up the table.
