Bayern Munich will host Schalke at the Allianz Arena on Saturday and will be hoping to continue their winning ways. It is the first home match for the Bavarians in 2017, and they will be determined to take off on a victorious note.

They secured an away win against Werder Bremen last weekend and are altogether the best performing side in the Bundesliga. They currently have fourteen wins, three draws and just one loss so far this season. Their last loss was back in November against league rivals Borussia Dortmund, and since then, they have won seven matches on the trot. They are currently topping the Bundesliga table; leading second-placed RB Leipzig by three points.

Their last win was by no means emphatic which they must have considered disappointing considering that they played against one of the worst performing sides in the league. They won by a lone goal margin after surviving a late scare from Werder Bremen when the home side pulled one back after Bayern scored two.

Schalke, on the other hand, are currently having a poor run of form. They have not won a game in their last six fixtures and will be hoping to cause an upset against the league leaders on Saturday to achieve a morale boost. They currently occupy the eleventh position in the league, just six points above relegation waters and a huge nine points stand between them and the last Europa spot currently held by Hertha Berlin.

Their last match was last Friday against Eintracht Frankfurt and resulted in a defeat. They will be coming to the Allianz Arena determined to put the disappointment of this last result behind them. So far this season, they have been able to secure only six wins, three draws and nine losses. The reality is that they will likely be making it ten losses this weekend.

On a head to head basis, Bayern Munich have a massive advantage with fifty-three wins and twenty-seven draws, losing just nineteen times. Their last match ended in a win for Bayern Munich and this second leg is very likely to produce a similar result.

Bayern have some of their best players back from injury for this one with Vidal, Alcantara and Lahm available. Franck Ribery is still out with injury and will not feature. Schalke, on the other hand, have all their players available.

Schalke will try to give this their all, but it is doubtful that will be enough to secure a draw against Bayern Munich, let alone a win. A bet on a Bayern win and over 2.5 goals will be a smart idea.
