West Ham and Manchester City to finish all square

The FA Cup third round kicks off on Friday night, as West Ham host Manchester City at the London Stadium in a game that will be hard to predict.

The home side will no doubt be hopeful of progress into the fourth round, as this clash represents a break from their poor Premier League campaign so far this season. With very little chance of winning a European place via the league, the FA Cup could be a way into the Europa League for the Hammers.

Slaven Bilic’s team have been inconsistent of late losing their last two games, having won their previous three on the trot. It is now a case of will the real West Ham please stand up.

The Irons have a mixed record against City in the FA Cup with both teams recording one win each and one game finishing in a draw in their last three meetings in the competition. However, the Londoners have suffered defeat in seven of their last ten meetings with City in all competitions, winning twice in that run of games.

City have also scored two or more goals in eight of their last ten meetings with West Ham, so the omens are not on the side of a Hammers victory in this clash.

Manchester City have been in decent form of late and currently lie third in the Premier League table. Last time out with ten men they recorded a 2-1 win over Burnley at the Etihad Stadium, with Gael Clichy and Sergio Aguero getting on the scoresheet for the Citizens.

Pep Guardiola’s side have bigger priorities this season, so the Catalan boss may decide to field a few of his fringes players in this clash.

Forebet predicts a draw between these two sides and the game going to a replay, which will not please either side, as neither side needs another game to contend with.
