Roma have been the closest team to champions Juventus in the race for the Scudetto this season. However, a 1-0 defeat in Turin last time out has seen Luciano Spalletti’s team fall seven points behind the Bianconeri.

The Giallorossi host midtable Chievo at the Stadio Olimpico on Thursday night, as both sides look to head into the winter break on the back of a win. Roma’s title-challenge has been based on their home record.

Spalletti’s side are unbeaten in their last 20 Serie A games on home soil, while also winning their last 11 games at their home stadium. In fact, the home side have suffered just one home league defeat in their last 27 outings.

It is not just their results on home soil that have been impressive though, as the men from the eternal city have suffered just four defeats in their last 34 games in the Italian top-flight.

The home side also have a good head-to-head record against Chievo. The visitors have recorded just two wins in the last 20 Serie A meetings. Roma have beaten the men from Verona on their last three trips to the Olimpico, with the home side also keeping clean sheets in all three clashes.

Chievo’s form has been decent of late, having gone three games unbeaten. The visitors defeated Sampdoria 2-1 last time out, but their recent record against Roma and the Giallorossi’s home record points to a victory to Spalletti’s side.

However, as mentioned earlier Chievo’s form of late has not been terrible and they are unlikely to be easy opponents for the home side.

Forebet predicts that Roma will emerge from this game with a comfortable win. Luciano Spalletti’s side cannot afford to slip up in this game and allow champions Juventus to move any further ahead of them in the title race.
