Brighton may just shade clash with Leeds
Two high-flying Championships teams met on Friday night, as Brighton host Leeds at the Amex Stadium, with both teams looking to improve their chances of promotion to the Premier League.
Brighton will kick-off this game second in the Championship table, trailing leaders Newcastle by just a point. The Seagulls are currently seven points clear of opponents Leeds in the race for the two automatic promotion spots this season.
Brighton are on a good run of form in the second tier, having gone 13 games unbeaten in the Championship. Chris Hughton’s side are also unbeaten in their last seven Championship games at the Amex Stadium.
The home side also have a very good recent home record against Leeds, beating the Yorkshire team in the last five Championship meetings between the pair, while also keeping clean sheets in their last three home league encounters with the Yorkshire side.
Brighton are unlikely to have a comfortable game against Garry Monk’s side, though. The visitors have won five of their six games in the Championship. They have also won their last three away games in the Championship.
Monk has brought some stability to the Yorkshire club and suddenly they look like contenders for promotion, having struggled in recent years for success under a number of different bosses. The Whites will see this clash as an opportunity to move closer to the Seagulls in the league table.
One of the main reasons for Brighton’s good league campaign has been their defensive solidity, as the Seagulls have conceded just 11 goals in their 19 Championship games this season, which is the lowest in the second tier.
Forebet predicts that Brighton will win this clash. However, Leeds are likely to be tricky opposition for Chris Hughton’s men, so it may be a hard-fought victory.
