Bayern can overcome Atletico Madrid

German giants Bayern Munich host Atletico Madrid at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night in the Champions League, as the Bavarians, look to gain revenge for an Atleti victory in the reverse fixture.
Atletico have a hundred percent record in the group and have already won the group. The German giants are second in the group on nine points but have already qualified for the knockout stages of the competition.
Bayern suffered a shock 3-2 defeat at Russian side FC Rostov last time out in this competition and their campaign has not quite gone to plan so far under experienced Italian boss Carlo Ancelotti. The Bavarians are currently in the unfamiliar position of second in the German top-flight with new boys RB Leipzig topping the table.
Despite their struggles Bayern have recorded consecutive victories that will have raised spirits at the German champions. Atletico Madrid would usually be tough opponents and the Spanish side are four games unbeaten and have not conceded in those four games.
A strong defensive record has been a theme of Diego Simeone’s team’s recent campaigns. This season has been no different, as the Rojiblancos have conceded just once in their five group games this season.
However, Atleti have lost their way in the Spanish title race, so Simeone may decide to rest some of his star players for this meaningless game for the team from the Spanish capital. The fact that it means very little should work in Bayern’s favour.
The game is meaningless for Bayern as well, but the German side will be under pressure to produce on home soil especially after the defeat in the reverse fixture. The German side must be considered the favourites to record a win in this clash, despite Atletico’s defensive resilience and win in the last meeting.
