Premier League title hopefuls Manchester City travel the short distance to Burnley on Saturday lunchtime in the Premier League.
On paper it would seem like the visitors should have an easy task in dispatching the relative minnows of the Premier League. The Clarets suffered a 4-0 drubbing at West Brom in their last match and the visit of the Citizens should represent a big challenge to Sean Dyche’s team.
Manchester City also head into the game on the back of making the knockout stages of the Champions League on Wednesday. It should be a stroll in the park for the Citizens, one would think.
However, the Clarets have been relatively tough to beat on home soil this season. In fact, the team from Lancashire are unbeaten in 22 of their last 25 games at Turf Moor. This season the Clarets have already got the better of Everton and Liverpool at home, while also suffering a very unlucky 1-0 defeat against Arsenal.
A win for City would move Pep Guardiola’s side to the top of the table, even if it is only for a few hours with Chelsea playing Tottenham in the evening kick-off.
The Citizens form in recent months has been pretty good and the men from Manchester have suffered just three defeats from their last 23 outings in the English top-flight. Guardiola’s side have also lost just once in the Premier League this season.
Giant Ivorian midfielder Yaya Toure returned to the City starting eleven with a bang last time out. The veteran star scored a brace on his first top-flight appearance for the Citizens of the campaign in a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.
The former Barcelona ace could once again be a key player against a Burnley defence that has kept just one clean sheet in their last six outings.
Forebet predicts that Manchester City will come out on top in a high-scoring game. However, despite a City win being the likely outcome, the home side are unlikely to be easy opponents for Guardiola’s side.
