Arsenal can continue good form against Basel

Two in-form teams meet at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night, as Arsenal host Swiss side Basel. This game could be a test of the home side's group topping capability as Basel head to north London in top form.

The visitors have won their last ten games in the Swiss Super League and already look to be running away with their domestic title. However, Urs Fischer’s drew their opening group game at home against Ludogorets, who are considered the group's weakest team.

A trip to face in-form Arsenal is a major step-up from the Swiss top-flight and the Bulgarian side Ludogorets. Fischer’s side will know they have a big job on their hands coming away from the English capital with anything other than a defeat.

Arsenal’s unconvincing start to the campaign now looks a distant memory, as Arsene Wenger’s side have hit top form. The Gunners have now won their last three consecutive games in all competitions having drawn their opening group game 1-1 with group favourites PSG.

Arsene Wenger’s side have been prolific in recent games, scoring 11 times in their last three victories. The Gunners last outings a 3-0 victory over Chelsea was probably Arsenal’s most impressive display of the campaign so far.

The likes of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Theo Walcott have all been enjoying stellar runs in front of goal and the trio will be looking to add to their goal tallies in this clash. Basel have also been pretty prolific in front of goal this season so far.

The Swiss side must take points from their games with Arsenal to have any chance of making the last-16 of the competition. At the moment PSG and Arsenal are the favourites to progress to the knockout stages.

A Gunners win would very much set them up for the rest of the group. It’s hard to see a Basel victory in this clash and the team from north London should take the three points.
